KingSpry Attorneys Speak At Lehigh Symposium On Special Education

Freund, III, Chair of the Education Law Practice Group, and Kristine Marakovits-Roddick, Chair of the Special Education section of the Education Law Practice Group were named members of the faculty of the Lehigh University’s College of Education Special Education Law Symposium
.
“Special Education Law Symposium 2008: Contemporary Questions and Answers” was held Sunday June 22 through Friday June 27 at Lehigh University Campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The course was designed for educators, administrators, attorneys, psychologists, physicians, social workers and other members of the educational community. Over the six days, the seminar provided a practical analysis of legislation, regulations and case law relating to the education of students with disabilities. Graduate and continuing education credits were available.
John E. Freund, III, a founding member of King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul and vice chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee, is one of Pennsylvania’s most experienced practitioners in education, employment, civil rights, and issues that affect local government and their insurers. He serves as chairman of the Education Law and Employment Law Practice Groups and is a member of the Tax Exempt Finance, Litigation, and Insurance Practice Groups. Mr. Freund regularly represents public schools, private schools, and colleges on a wide range of legal concerns in state and federal courts, administrative agencies and special education due process matters.
Kristine Marakovits-Roddick, a partner of King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, has focused her practice in the areas of general and special education. She has represented school districts in many diverse legal matters. Ms. Roddick has lectured in the field of public education on topics such as student discipline, special education liability, sexual discrimination, condemnation proceedings, and taxation. She continues to impact the community by acting as a judge for the Mock Trial Invitation, a program that benefits students.
