Three KingSpry Attorneys Named

2007 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers

June 8, 2007: King, Spry, Herman, Freund and Faul, LLC, is pleased to announce that three partners have been named 2007 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers. Domenic P. Sbrocchi, Kirby G. Upright, LLM, CPA, and John E. Freund, III, have all been nominated, an honor bestowed on only 5 percent of licensed active attorneys in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Sbrocchi is a member of the firm’s Education Law and Litigation Practice Groups. He currently focuses his practice in commercial and personal injury litigation, from both the plaintiff and defense side, as well as in education law. A civil litigator since 1974, Mr. Sbrocchi was also a part-time Assistant District Attorney for Northampton County from 1979 to 1983. Mr. Sbrocchi’s quasi-judicial experience includes court appointments as a master, auditor, and arbitrator; service with the American Arbitration Association as an arbitrator; and appointment by agreement of private parties as an arbitrator and a mediator.

Mr. Sbrocchi received a B.S. degree in Psychology with high distinction from Pennsylvania State University. He then received his Juris Doctorate degree from Indiana University School of Law.

Mr. Upright is both an attorney and a certified public accountant. He holds the distinction of being a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Council, a prestigious organization to which only attorneys who meet certain exemplary standards are invited. He is one of only two attorneys in northeastern Pennsylvania and approximately 1,500 across the nation in ACTEC. Mr. Upright is a frequent faculty member of and has authored many articles for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.

A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Upright earned his Juris Doctorate from Akron University School of Law and earned a Master of Law degree in Taxation from Temple University School of Law.

Mr. Freund is a founding member of KingSpry and is one of Pennsylvania’s most experienced practitioners in education, employment, civil rights, and issues that affect local government and their insurers. He serves as chairman of the firm’s Education Law and Employment Law Practice Groups, and he is a member of the Public Finance, Litigation, and Insurance Practice Groups. As a leading education law attorney, Mr. Freund regularly represents public schools, private schools, and colleges on a wide range of legal concerns in state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and special education due process matters. He also serves as counsel to various regional and national educational organizations. Mr. Freund is a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Lehigh Mutual Insurance Company and serves as the company’s corporate Secretary and General Counsel. He is a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.

Mr. Freund graduated cum laude from Princeton University and received his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University, where he was a member of the Law Review and winner of the Reimel Moot Court Finalist Award.

The rigorous Super Lawyers selection process includes peer nomination, a blue ribbon panel review, and independent research of candidates. Only 5 percent of attorneys in the state are chosen, and the nomination speaks to the candidate’s high professional achievement and peer recognition.

Mr. Sbrocchi, Mr. Upright, and Mr. Freund appeared among the other honorees in the June 2007 issue of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine and in the June 2007 issue of Philadelphia magazine.
