Deirdre J. Kamber practices in the fields of labor, employment, and health care privacy law. Specific areas of her practice include federal and state anti-discrimination laws, military reemployment, wage and hour laws, labor negotiations, family and medical leave, HIPAA and unemployment compensation. Her clients include public and private organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals. As counsel, her work includes litigation, arbitration, negotiation, hearing representation, workplace training, and policy and contract drafting.
In addition to her firm duties, Ms. Kamber serves as a legal advisor for Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, as a lecturer for the National Speakers' Bureau for the Society for Human Resource Management, as an Attorney General Advocate for Operation Safe Surf, and as an arbitrator for the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas. She also regularly teaches on a variety of employment and health care issues such as employee evaluation, HIPAA compliance, discrimination concerns, wellness program implementation, issues in workplace leaves and benefits, worksite investigations, wage and hour compliance, and diversity training. She has authored several articles and has contributed to the website HIV In-Site.
Ms. Kamber has been recognized for her work in a variety of ways. She was awarded the Top Twenty Under Forty Award by the Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal in 2006; was nominated for the Woman of the Year Award; received an honorary grant from the National Public Justice Foundation for her work on HIV and AIDS; and was granted the New York State Bar Ethics Award.
Ms. Kamber graduated with a B.A. from Brandeis University, a distinguished Master's degree from the University of Limerick in Ireland, and Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law. She also holds several certifications in HIPAA compliance.
Ms. Kamber is admitted to practice in both Pennsylvania and New York. She maintains membership with the Northampton County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), and other organizations.
Prior to joining KingSpry in 2005, Ms. Kamber practiced labor and employment law in a boutique law firm in New York. She has also worked for the Harvard School of Public Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Privacy Industry Council of the Lehigh Valley. |
