Ellen C. Schurdak concentrates her practice in the litigation arena. Ms. Schurdak's litigation practice is varied: she practices in family law, construction-related, business-related, employment discrimination, white-collar criminal defense, insurance defense, and plaintiff's personal injury arenas.
Prior to arriving at KingSpry in 2004, Ms. Schurdak developed her litigation skills as an Assistant Public Defender, Assistant District Attorney, and in private practice in Monroe County. Ms. Schurdak was also judicially appointed as a Domestic Relations Advocate for Monroe County. In said position, Ms. Schurdak further refined her litigation skills and focused on developing knowledge on domestic law issues.
Ms. Schurdak earned undergraduate degrees at Fairfield University in Connecticut, where she graduted summa cum laude, and the London School of Economics. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1997.
A member of the Monroe County Bar Association, the Northampton County Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Ms. Schurdak is also admitted and practices in the Middle and Eastern District federal courts of Pennsylvania. She also has extensive appellate court experience and has appeared before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Ms. Schurdak was judicially appointed and served on the Monroe County Bench Bar Committee. She appears on the radio and on television discussing child support matters. She has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal for her service in the public interest law forum. Ms. Schurdak has been recognized in the press for her advocacy skills and persistence in successfully arguing a case that resulted in a change in Pennsylvania law before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Ms. Schurdak currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Kemerer Museum, a partner of Historic Downtown Bethlehem. In the past, Ms. Schurdak has served as Vice President of the Board for Pocono Services for Family and Children (Head Start) and on the Board for the Philadelphia Friends of Outward Bound.
