Transgender Students on College Campuses

February 23, 2017 @ 11:45 am - 2:00 pm

Free

This lunch & learn workshop is free of charge, but seating is limited.

The controversy over transgender students’ use of restrooms and changing facilities according to their gender identity has grown from a local issue to a debate of federalism in education, with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the President front and center.

The Supreme Court has granted certiorari to consider the issue in a K-12 case; their ruling will have consequences for higher education as well.  This presentation will review the questions the High Court will consider and analyze the relevance of Title IX and OCR in both the legal challenges and in regulatory guidance. Recommendations for interim measures at colleges and universities will also be suggested.

RSVP by calling Don Loughney at 610-332-0390, or email dloughney@kingspry.com.
