KingSpry's Donna Reimer and Other Lehigh Valley Law Firm Administrators Pitch In To Help Fight Hunger
Donna Reimer, Firm Administrator for the KingSpry Law Firm, along with the Independence Chapter of Lehigh Valley Law Firm Administrators, worked with the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 to pack 1, 872 boxes for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. The program is a federally-funded program that is designed to improve the health and nutrition of low-income senior citizens, post-partum mothers, and children. A supply of staple foods, provided by the USDA, are packed into boxes, and distributed once a month to registered participants. The boxes contain cereal, juice, canned vegetables and fruit, evaporated milk, pasta, peanut butter, protein (beef, chicken, or tuna), and cheese.
"It was the most uplifting time," Ms. Reimer says, "Over fifty people helped. But the need to help the hungry in our area is year round, so we encourage other groups to get involved and help in any way they can."
