Kirby G. Upright is both an attorney and a certiified public accountant. His knowledge and experience in estate planning and estate administration have earned him the frequent honor of being called to lecture and commentate before his peers across the Commonwealth. He also holds the distinction of being a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a prestigious organization to which only attorneys who meet certain exemplary standards are invited. He is one of only two attorneys in northeastern Pennsylvania and approximately 1,500 across the nation in ACTEC.
Mr. Upright is a frequent faculty member of and has authored many articles for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute in the areas of estate planning and administration. He is recognized as a leading commentator for the PBI in the area of legal ethics as those professional rules apply to the Trust and Estate areas.
Mr. Upright has a substantial estate and trust practice which is fully automated, increasing the speed and accuracy of recordkeeping and processing. Mr. Upright has experience in handling everything from simple wills to the most complicated and sophisticated of situations.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1970, Akron University Law School in 1973, and in 1977, Temple University School of Law, where he earned a Master of Law degree in Taxation. Mr. Upright is a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1967.
Mr. Upright was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1973, and is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association, the Northampton County Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Mr. Upright is also a former Chair of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and he is an active member of the Northeast Pennsylvania and Lehigh Valley Estate Planning Councils. He is listed in various Who's Who publications and The Best Lawyers in America, and he is listed as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.
Mr. Upright serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for the East Stroudsburg Branch of Penn Security Bank and Trust Company. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council of Penn State University. |
