KingSpry is proud to announce that Dorota Gasienica-Kozak has been named a Girl Scouts “Take the Lead” Honoree for 2018.
Each year, the Girl Scouts celebrate four special women nominated by their peers for their outstanding leadership. Each honoree is paired with an exemplary student, and the two learn about each other in a special Shadow Day experience.
Take the Lead, now in its 20th year, will culminate in an awards event on April 24th. It is a regional celebration of women in leadership and a one-of-a-kind development program designed exclusively for and by girls. This annual Girl Scout-driven fundraising event allows girls of all ages to build and demonstrate invaluable skills, like public speaking and networking, that will position them for future success.
Through Take the Lead, girl participants forge long-lasting mentorships with outstanding women in their communities. Paired with Kozak is Lena Kugelman, a 10th grader from Northampton Area High School. (Dorota and Lena pose in Dorota’s office, above.) For her shadow experience, Lena sat in on meetings for mentoring the firm’s next generation of leadership, heard case reviews to understand how Kozak and her staff manage her caseload, and, based on her own award-winning project on bullying and diversity, participated in a panel presentation in front of over twenty different school districts.
“The Girl Scouts present so many opportunities for young women, and teaches them the skills to explore those opportunities – to make our world a better place,” Kozak says. “I never expected to be recognized in this way, but am honored to be considered an example to the women around me, and I am particularly excited that my daughter, a Junior Girl Scout, will be participating in the program this year as well.”
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania provide programs and services to over 5000 girls each year. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. For more information about the Girl Scouts in your area, please visit their website.
